September 11, 2023 – A man critically wounded during an exchange of gunfire just after midnight Sunday in the parking lot of Somatel motel at 420 Metroplex Drive in South Nashville has died.
Hykame Knowles, 27, of Nashville, suffered a wound to his hip area and was driven by private vehicle to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. He was then transferred to Vanderbilt and taken to surgery. He died later in the day.
A maintenance/security worker at the motel suffered a graze wound to the neck in this case. He did not require treatment.
A number of witnesses have been interviewed as detectives work to confirm the identities of the persons who fired guns in this case.
