Charles De Ketelaere scored twice and assisted a third goal for Belgium. Malik Tillman briefly leveled the match at 1-1 in the 31st minute, but De Ketelaere restored Belgium’s lead just two minutes later. Hans Vanaken added a third in the 57th minute, and Romelu Lukaku sealed the result in stoppage time.
The United States held 56% possession but managed only two shots on target. Matt Freese made three saves. Thibaut Courtois was rarely challenged, stopping one of two shots he faced.
The match drew 66,925 fans. Mauricio Pochettino managed the U.S.; Rudi Garcia managed Belgium.
