According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the girl was with her family near the Green Stage at 1st Avenue South and Demonbreun Street around 9:20 p.m. when she suddenly felt pain in her back. She removed a bullet fragment and handed it to her mother before being taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.

Police said the girl suffered a non-critical injury and is expected to recover.

Investigators believe the injury was caused by falling celebratory gunfire, but it is not known where the shot was fired from.
