Nathan-Nate-Garvin

Nathan “Nate” Garvin was born on May 12, 1993 and passed away on October 23, 2022, he was 29 years old.

Nathan proudly portrayed many roles in his short lifetime: Dad, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and best friend. In those roles, he would go above and beyond for anyone he loved, without hesitation.

Nathan came into this world with a basketball in hand and a skateboard under his feet. He grew up with a makeshift goal on the corner of Brook Drive and as he got older, you could find him at Pitts Park or the Antioch Community Center on any given day giving all he had. These 2 things were his solace and his place of peace.

You could not argue with him about Kobe or the Raiders, no matter what. Nate also grew up from the time he could walk playing soccer. Nate had surprised his little brother with tickets at the new stadium just a couple of weeks ago.

Nathan had a smile that drew you in and a soul that held you hostage. He wore his heart on his sleeve and his heart, however huge it truly was, was always guarded.

Nathan leaves his 2 sons, Kavion 11 and Armondo 4, to navigate this world without their daddy. Playing Video games, watching movies, late night food runs and goofy facetimes. Those are just a few of the things his sons will no longer do with their dad. These beautiful, smart, rambunctious little boys are my world, and I will now pick up and carry on in Nate’s memory.

Nathan had an incredible family circle, most of those being chosen. His friends quickly became brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews…love is love and that’s all that mattered. I have so many chosen sons and daughters that Nate has brought into my life over the years, and I am forever grateful.

I will miss everything about my son. I will miss his random “what you doing mom” texts in the middle of the night and those lazy football Sundays with Chris on the grill, Nate on the porch and Logan asleep on the couch. I will miss our weekends in the pool with Kavi and Mondo.

I will miss the “I’m pulling up” calls just to drop his laundry. I will forever miss Christmas mornings and his laughter echoing throughout the house.

My love for my son is immeasurable and everlasting. There are no words to describe.

My heart will forever miss its biggest piece.

My first child.

My son.

Nathan leaves behind his sons, Kavion and Armondo, his mom, Jamie (Chris) Bargatze, his siblings, Logan, Alyssa and EJ, Nana & Pawpaw Jimbo and Granny Linda, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, Nate’s chosen family, his Uncles, Best Friends & Brothers, Sisters and so many more.
