Katherine Ruth Hood-Moffett was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 25, 1988 to Evelyn Jones. She was adopted (chosen) at 6 weeks old on May 11, 1988, by Jim and Vicki Hood. Katie was raised in Old Hickory, Tennessee. She passed away on April 9, 2024 at the age of 36 after complications of pneumonia in Florida.
She attended W.A. Wright Elementary School, Mt. Juliet Middle School and Mt. Juliet High School graduating in the class of 2006. She attended various medical schools including medical assistant school and received her medical coding certificate.
She was a charter member of Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet Tennessee and was the first to be baptized in the church at age 12. She sang solos in her school choir and was also the only youth who sang in the Victory Baptist Church adult choir. She loved to perform for us at home singing karaoke.
She was a gifted artist, and had a talent for baking and creating decorative cakes and cupcakes. She loved to cook using her nana’s favorite recipes.
She had a loving spirit for others and wanted to help those struggling, because she had struggled many years in her own personal life. But most of all she loved Jesus and taught Sunday School and her children in her class loved her.
Katie is preceded in death by her birth mother, grandparents: James and Ruth Hood and Charles and Imogene Cason and her baby girl, Ellie Grace Battiste on February 24, 2024.
Katie is survived by her father, James R. Hood, her mother and step-father, Vicki and Elton Wiseman, her children Nevaeh, Trinity, Skylar, Gunner and the father of their children, David Moffett, as well as her children in Florida; Hunter, Jaxson, and Noah Battiste; Katie had 3 half brothers: Jason, Matthew and John, a step-sister, Kim Bodawig and step-brother, Kevin Wiseman
She also left a huge imprint on the lives of her aunts, uncles and cousins: Chuck and Sarah Dunlap; Chase, Jordan and Parker Dunlap, Elizabeth Dunlap, Bob and Nancy Rose; Brad and Loren Rose. Tom and Nancy Hood; Sarah and Roger Burg; Glen and Jeannie Hood; and many other relatives and close friends who loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at victory baptist church, 1777 Tate Lane, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122 on May 11, 2024. Brother Chuck Groover will officiate the service.
