Jane-Elizabeth-Waterlow

Jane Elizabeth Waterlow passed away peacefully on May 20th 2023 due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis which she fought gracefully for many years.

Born in 1950 in London, England to a British mother and Canadian father, a Wing Commander with the Canadian Air Force, her family moved to Canada when she was nine, eventually settling in Montreal where she attended Westmount High and McGill University.

She married British-born Simon Waterlow in 1971 and they lived in Montreal many years before his work in book publishing took them to Toronto, London, New York and ultimately to Nashville in 1987. They settled in Franklin where Jane lived for over 30 years.

While living in TN, Jane was passionately involved with fundraising for Cheekwood Estate and Gardens, including having been Co-Chair of both the Antiques & Garden show and the Swan Ball Auction. Jane stayed active for many years with the Auction Advisory Committee, helping to coordinate wonderful trips to Canada and the UK; she particularly enjoyed introducing people to her beloved Montreal.

Jane was deeply loved for her positive outlook, her humor, her loyal friendship, her open mind, her great taste and for being a generous hostess with a gift for bringing people together. She loved travel, music, mystery novels, stray animals, good movies, singing in the car, a good chat, a great cappuccino, and was always up for an adventure.

She is survived by her daughter Caroline and son-in-law Wyatt, her sisters Anne and Carol, her brother John and her extended family in England and Canada. She will be sorely missed by her family, godchildren and many dear friends around the world.

Jane was especially grateful to the wonderful caregivers who helped her at home and beyond, and to the exceptional community at the Health Center at Richland Place.

Donations can be made in Jane’s name to the “Richland Holiday Fund” to benefit the staff members there – 504 Elmington Ave, Nashville TN 37205.

A memorial service will be planned for the summer.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.marshalldonnellycombs.com for the Waterlow family.
