James “Jim” Everett Ward, EdD. of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, he was 88 years old.

Dr. Ward was born on April 10, 1934 in Dardanelle, Arkansas to the late Norman and Nellie Ward.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years Betty Jo Wells Ward; sister, Patsy Ward George and grandson, Mark T. Briscoe, Jr.

He is survived by his sons, Brad Ward (Romeo Dela Cruz) and David Ward; grandchildren, Ella Elizabeth Ward and David Everett Ward, Jr.

Dr. Ward earned his higher education from Hendrix College, The University of Arkansas and George Peabody College. He served in the US Army, was director of Libraries and professor at Lipscomb University and served as an officer of numerous professional organizations. Following retirement, he worked part-time at Walmart and Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. He was a longtime member and 30 year elder at Granny White Church of Christ.

The family will gather with friends for a time of remembrance at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Friday, October 21, 2022 from four o’clock until seven o’clock.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at eleven o’clock in the morning at Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall, with visitation beginning at ten o’clock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Granny White Church of Christ, 3805 Granny White Pike, Nashville, TN 37204 or to Trinity Lutheran Church of Manhattan (The James Ward Building Fund), 164 West 100th Street, New York, NY 10025.
