Franklin “Frank” Platt, age 73, passed away on April 29, 2024, in Memphis, TN.

Frank was born on November 7, 1950, to his late parents Malcolm E Platt, Sr and Jeannette Ciulla Platt.

Surviving family members include his sons Justin Eric Platt and Jonathan Edward Platt, brothers Malcolm E Platt, Jr, Michael Wesley Platt, and Patrich Charles Platt, nieces Kristina Marie (Platt) Fargo, Sara Beth (Street) Platt, Elise Lynn (Hubbard) Platt, Brinley Nicole Platt, and Lucy Lorraine Platt, nephews Nicholas E Platt, Ryan Wesley Platt, David Shane Fargo, Christian Reid Platt, Dawson Shane Fargo, Evan Wesley Fargo, and Atticus Wesley Platt, aunt Christine Marie (Ciulla) Collins, uncle Carl Earnest Collins, and numerous cousins. There are too many friends to name here individually; however, they all know who they are. His love and affection for them all was both immense and mutual.

Frank was a man of diverse interests and talents. More than anything else, he loved his family and being around people. Whether spending time with his beloved sons, being the hub in a wheel bursting with friends, working as chief executive of the Music City Barbecue Festival, acting as an officer in numerous professional organizations, or visiting his cherished brothers and other family members, he was most at home sharing a story or joke, listening when someone needed to be heard, officiating weddings amongst friends and family, or simply reminding others that “in case I don’t tell you later, I had a damn good time”.

He was a day 1 season ticket holder and avid supporter of the Tennessee Titans. He loved University of Tennessee sports and the Nashville Predators. Frank was the kind of person that tables were reserved for in restaurants and bars across Nashville.

Charity was very important to Frank. He donated his time and money to numerous organizations and causes, namely Monroe Carrol Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Frank practiced and believed in professional excellence. He started his career in the telecommunications industry, eventually owning his own consulting company. Serving as a member of numerous boards, professional organizations like Information Systems Audit and Control (ISACA), where he served as past president, and speaking both locally and nationally at various conferences or trade shows, Frank was renowned as a pioneer in the cybersecurity industry who showed no plans of slowing down in his later years. His breadth of knowledge and esteem within his industry was especially outstanding.

A devout Catholic, Frank attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Nashville, TN for many years. Frank loved Jesus and lived his life by the Word of God. He read the Bible cover to cover each year and was fascinated each time by the new things he learned. He shared those lessons joyfully with anyone. Frank practiced his faith demonstrably and was known by all for his wish of peace.

Frank served in the United States National Guard from 1971-1975 and was proud to be a veteran. He loved freedom, conservative values, and most of all America.

Being outdoors on kayak or camping trips with friends and family, rafting the Ocoee River, or just walking in nature were things that pleased Frank. He was the person making the arrangements for annual trips and was always open to give someone a seat in his car if they needed a ride. Frank had a love for travel, and he spent a lot of his time visiting friends or family who eagerly welcomed him into their homes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Monroe Carrol Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN.

A visitation will be held May 9th at 10 AM at St. Edward Church 188 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37211 with service to follow. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/nashville-tn
