Betty Miles Marchetti, age 96, passed away peacefully at her home on May 4, 2024.

She was preceded in death by husband, Gino Marchetti, Sr. and son, Mark Marchetti.

She is survived by her children Gino, Jr. (Jeanne), Tony (Lynn), Kevin, (Mary), Andrea (Tom), Michael (Teresa), Vicky, Chris (Gina), Mary, sixteen Grandchildren and sixteen Great Grandchildren.

Betty was born in 1928 in Centralia, Illinois to Eileen and Harvey Miles and moved to Nashville in 1948 where she worked at the Hales Drug Store on West End. It was there that she met her soon to be husband of sixty-five years, Gino, who worked across West End at Candyland.

In addition to raising nine children, she worked as a Crossing Guard for Metro for over twenty years. Following her retirement, Betty volunteered at the Ladies of Charity and was a long-time member of the Colonna Club. Her Catholic faith was foundational in her life and was evident in her supportive words, generous spirit and selfless actions.

She attended literally hundreds of sporting events and school performances for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known in her family and beyond for her famous biscotti and handmade quilts—and for hosting the best sleepovers for her grandchildren with blanket forts, freshly popped popcorn, so many hugs and Grandma Betty’s signature Pond’s Cold Cream scent.

She was a homemaker extraordinaire as evidenced by her ability to host meals for armies and outfit her grandchildren in beautiful handmade and smocked outfits. Sunday morning breakfast was a weekly homecoming for her ever-growing family, filled with laughter and love. Her home was always open and neither the door to her home nor her heart was ever locked to anyone who needed a smile, a hug, spaghetti or lasagna, or a kind word.
