Emeline Riddle Tilley

Emeline Riddle Tilley, age 84, peacefully passed away in her sleep at her home after battling chronic bronchitis and dementia for several years.

She never complained about her health but moved forward each day with a positive attitude.

Born in Nashville, on March 16th, 1937, to her parents, Rebecca (Betty) Riddle and James T. Riddle.

Emeline attended Overbrook and Peabody Demonstration School (University School of Nashville). She went to college at Florida Southern in Lakeland, FL, where she became a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Upon returning to Nashville, she met Vance at a wedding party…they were destined to be married for 63 years. In the next few years, they had two loving children, Emeline and Vance. Besides raising a family she worked with children at St. George’s and Hillwood Presbyterian preschool programs. She would also give gladly of her time to various civic organizations. She also enjoyed the many years she spent as a member of the Dubious Diggers Garden Club and the Lunch Bunch.

Emeline is survived by her daughter, Emeline Marcantel (Ernest), son, Vance, husband, F. Vance Tilley, much loved neighbors, nieces and nephews in Florida, and first cousins in Boston and Memphis. We will always remember Emeline for her sweetness, caring heart, beautiful smile, and youthful spirit. Rest in peace, Emeline. We will always miss you.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Woodlawn-Roesch-PattonFH.com for the TILLEY family.
