A woman has been charged after Metro Nashville Police say she locked herself in a bathroom with a 7-year-old child at a Donelson bar on March 7, 2023, according to WSMV.

MNPD say it happened at Phat Bites on Lebanon Pike. When officers arrived to the scene, they say they saw a tan Mercedes sedan sitting outside of the bar with two children, ages 10 and 9, inside.

Police were told that the woman and the children were at the bar for over an hour and that she had been in the bathroom with the 7-year-old for over 45 minutes.

Officers were eventually able to get the woman, later identified as 34-year-old Reginell Smith, to exit the bathroom with the child. WSMV reports that officers described Smith as being visibly impaired and defensive when officers asked her to take a sobriety test.

Smith was arrested after a background check showed she had an outstanding warrant.

She has been charged with public intoxication and two counts of child endangerment.
