Violent Crimes detectives arrested a wanted man following a pursuit Friday night that ended in Wilson County. Fernando Flores, 29, has outstanding warrants in Nashville and is wanted in California, where he is a convicted felon.
Flores had two warrants for aggravated robbery and felony theft when detectives discovered his vehicle traveling on I-65 South and Old Hickory Boulevard. With the help of a THP helicopter, detectives were able to track Flores’ black Nissan Frontier to a parking lot off Stewarts Ferry Pike.
Detectives successfully blocked the Frontier in, but Flores quickly drove into a police vehicle and pushed it out of the way with his to escape. A pursuit started into Wilson County on I-40 East, and with the help of THP, Mt. Juliet Police, and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, officers were able to follow Flores to Central Pike where the Frontier crashed.
Flores was apprehended by an MNPD Canine Unit. He is now charged with felony evading arrest, felon in possession of a firearm, and felony vandalism in addition to his outstanding warrants. He is being held on a $65,000 bond.
