A man wanted in connection with a May shooting at a South Nashville apartment complex has been arrested after an officer recognized him during an overnight patrol.
Metro Nashville Police say Officer Embree York spotted 29-year-old Kenneth S. Watt at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Spence Lane and took him into custody without incident. Watt was wanted on an attempted murder warrant related to the May shooting of 33-year-old Julian Pinkston in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Wallace Road.
Police say Watt admitted he sells drugs in the area and was carrying methamphetamine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana when he was arrested. Watt also admitted to shooting Pinkston, claiming Pinkston had stolen from him. Pinkston’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Watt has previous convictions for aggravated assault and robbery in Lake and Hamilton counties. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he is also charged with employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, and felony possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
His bond has been set at $146,000.
