(July 15, 2022) Two teenagers are in custody after carjacking a woman on Belmont Boulevard Thursday night. The teens, 13 and 15, were in the back of the victim’s Toyota Venza as she drove away from a nearby store.

The victim noticed the boys in her backseat and quickly exited the vehicle. As she ran away from the vehicle, the victim had the key fob in her pocket, so the Venza became disabled. The pair got out and fled on foot.

Not long after the carjacking, a citizen at a nearby residence called in stating a young male was underneath his deck. The 13-year-old was located there and fled from Violent Crimes detectives. He was quickly apprehended.

The 15-year-old attempted to schedule an Uber, but the driver told officers he cancelled the ride after seeing a heavy police presence in the area. Detectives searched the intersection where the ride was scheduled to pick up and located the 15-year-old in a wooded area.

During an interview with detectives, the 13-year-old admitted the pair drove a Nissan Altima, reported stolen in Clarksville, to Belmont Boulevard. The two teens decided to steal another car in fear police were following them.

The 15-year-old is charged with felony carjacking and felony theft. The 13-year-old is charged with felony carjacking, felony theft and evading arrest.
