Two men were arrested after police say they tried to steal copper wiring used to power TDOT interstate signs along Interstate 24 in Nashville.
Southeast Precinct officers arrested Michael See, 42, and Thomas Allard, 41, after the pair allegedly attempted to take the wiring overnight. Police said both men admitted to the attempted theft and the damage caused during the incident.
Both men were each charged with vandalism and attempted theft.
Police said See was also found with a small amount of methamphetamine and was additionally charged with drug possession.
According to TDOT employees, the copper wiring was valued at about $1,500, while repairs to the damaged equipment are expected to cost around $10,000.
