UPDATED 11:50a 11/13/22: The deceased individual has been identified as Senquarius Demonta Williams, DOB 05/19/1996.

At the request of 20th Judicial District Attorney General Glenn Funk and per a memorandum of understanding, TBI special agents continue to investigate the circumstances that led to an overnight shooting in Madison involving officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Preliminary information indicates that officers with MNPD were investigating another incident shortly after 2:00 a.m. in the area of 201 Gallatin Pike in Madison. As the officers worked to secure and investigate that crime scene, an unknown male approached them, pulled out a handgun, and fired at the officers. Three officers returned fire. The individual was shot, and died at the scene. His identity is being withheld at this time pending an autopsy. None of the officers involved in this incident received injuries.

TBI special agents continue to independently investigate the officer-involved shooting aspect of this incident, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the district attorney general for his further review and consideration.

The TBI acts as fact-finders in its cases and does not determine whether the actions of an officer were justified in these types of matters. That decision rests with the district attorney general requesting TBI’s involvement.

The TBI does not identify the officers involved in these types of incidents and, instead, refers questions of that nature to the respective department to answer as it sees fit.
