Sylvan Park Boarding House, located at 4511 Elkins Ave., will welcome its first guests when the boutique bed & breakfast opens on May 12, announces owner Erin Tolbert.
Located in Nashville’s Park-Elkins Historic District in Sylvan Park, the 3,900 square-foot property features eight guest suites each with private bathrooms. Amenities include luxurious king-size beds for seven single suites and queen beds for the double-occupancy room, all fitted with Frette linens and Peacock Alley down. Rooms include Smeg mini-refrigerators, individual thermostats for custom temperature control, and boutique touches like Grown Alchemist cosmetics, plush robes, slippers, and Dyson hairdryers. A property manager will live onsite and tend to guest needs.
Guests can enjoy the entire grounds during their stay, including interior common areas, a sprawling front porch with beautiful landscaping, yard games and bocce ball, and a cozy courtyard with full service from locally owned and operated Tantísimo. The Latin American café and restaurant located on property will also provide daily breakfast for all guests, which is included with their stay.
The historic dwelling was built in 1910 and served as a community boarding house for decades (est. 1930s to 1990s). Tolbert, a longtime Sylvan Park resident, purchased the property in 2021 as a temporary residence while her family’s home was under renovation. Her dream was to honor the history of the home while building something for both locals and visitors to enjoy.
“I absolutely love Sylvan Park and the history in the beautiful homes here,” said Tolbert. “It’s my home, and the team poured love and inspiration into the renovation over the last year. The result is something truly special, and we cannot wait to welcome visitors and neighbors into the space soon.”
Sylvan Park Boarding House underwent a complete renovation under the direction of Odom Construction. With great care taken to preserve the integrity and history of the dwelling, the architect for the two-story home is Lines, and the designer is Erika Thompson Design. The décor features photography and artwork from West Nashville’s history, as well as wallpaper designed by Sylvan Park resident Christina Coldiron of Rosewood TN.
In advance of opening, Sylvan Park Boarding House will host a giveaway on its Instagram page, offering locals a chance to win one of four two-night stays, May 1-3.
“We want to welcome a few Nashville residents and neighbors to help us perfect some final details before we open our doors,” said Tolbert. “If you could use a spring staycation, be sure to enter our online giveaway. We’ll be randomly selecting four winners to be the first to stay at Sylvan Park Boarding House. We can’t think of a better way to open than hosting locals in our beautiful suites.”
