The pedestrian struck and killed on I-40 east near 28th Avenue at 8:45 p.m. Friday has been tentatively identified as a 43-year-old Nashville woman. The victim was crossing the eastbound lanes when she was hit by a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV and then a semi-truck. Both vehicles stopped and neither driver showed any indications of impairment.
It is not known why the victim was on the interstate. There were no broken down vehicles in the area. Positive identification of the victim is pending.
