A proactive patrol in Mt. Juliet led to the recovery of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise and the arrest of two suspects, according to the Mt. Juliet Police Department.
Police say an officer noticed suspicious activity involving a man in the parking lot of Kroger and began investigating. It was soon determined that multiple push-out thefts had taken place.
Officers discovered six shopping carts filled with merchandise that had been loaded into an SUV. All of the stolen items, valued at nearly $2,800, were recovered and returned to the store.
Authorities arrested a 59-year-old man from Nashville, noting he has a prior history of theft and is currently on probation. A 53-year-old woman, also from Nashville, was identified as an accomplice and charged in connection with the incident.
Police credited the officer’s attentiveness and emphasized their ongoing commitment to proactive policing and community safety.
