Barry Darnell Miller, 71, passed away on April 23, 2026.

Barry was born on May 10, 1954, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at Ft. Bragg. He spent many years living in Brentwood, Tennessee, where he built a life centered around family, music, and the things he loved most. He was a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by profession, and a die-hard Volunteers fan who rarely missed a chance to cheer on his team.

Barry had a deep passion for music and was an avid enthusiast, known for his collection of guitars. Whether listening, or simply appreciating the craft, music was a constant presence in his life and brought him great joy.

In recent years, Barry found a renewed dedication to Christ, which brings comfort and peace to his family in his passing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Miller; his daughters, Dylana Machurek (Matthew) and Haley Price (Josh); his grandson, Wesley; his brother, Hugh Miller; and the family he gained through his marriage to Peggy, including Kelly Creekmore (DC), Heather Fussell (Brian), Dustin Lawhon (Becca), Kenlie, Ves, Clay, Cole, and Leira.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marjorie Miller.

Barry will be remembered for his love of music, his dedication to his family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Barry will have a Natural Burial Friday, May 8th, at 10am at Larkspur Conservation, 155 Bear Carr Rd. Westmoreland, TN 37186.

What to expect at a natural burial:

Dress for an outdoor hike and wear appropriate shoes.

Use the restroom before you arrive, there is no public toilet or running water.

Carpool to Larkspur – parking is limited.

Plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of time.

Family and friends will be welcomed at the trailhead by Larkspur staff and volunteers.

The casket or body will be in place at the graveside prior to the arrival of family and friends.

Family and friends will hike up the hill into the nature preserve for the burial ceremony.

Words are shared and the casket or body is lowered into the grave by family and friends.

With guidance the family and friends shovel soil into the grave until it is closed.

Hike away from the graveside and return to your vehicle or explore the preserve.

Leave no trash behind.

Cut flowers are welcome.
