It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Terrence (Terry) Anthony Quill on January 8, 2024.

Terry, a devoted husband and father, was born on September 27, 1937, in Washington D.C. He grew up attending St. Anthony’s Elementary Catholic School and St. John DeMatha High School, nurturing a foundation of faith and education.

Terry’s academic journey led him to the University of Maryland, where he earned a degree in Political Science and Mandarin Language/Literature. His commitment to serving his country was evident through his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, where he served as an aircraft crew chief with a tour in the Azores.

His distinguished career continued with the CIA, dedicating 25 years as an operations/intelligence officer, including double tours in Laos and Thailand. Following his retirement from the CIA and later with a move from Manassas, VA to Nashville, TN, Terry then worked for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at BNA Airport in Nashville, TN, for nearly nine years.

Terry’s passion for sports and youth development shone through his ten seasons coaching a youth travel soccer team in Manassas, VA. His leadership and coaching skills led the team to an impressive 95% winning percentage in regular season games and victories in 8 of 9 soccer tournament championships across the mid-south state regions. Some of his greatest joy was derived from attending both his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities.

Terry’s life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dianna (Dee), whom he met in North Laos while she was working as a USAID Nurse. His legacy continues through his children: son Terrence Jr. (Tony), daughter-in-law Susan, and grandson Jack; son Keith Michael, daughter-in-law Azin, and grandson Tyler; and daughter Danielle Thienel, son-in-law Mark, twin granddaughters Ava and Vivian, and grandson Hudson. He also leaves behind his beloved sister Kathleen Lee of Round Rock, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Terry was one of 12 siblings and is predeceased by his parents, Madeline and Thomas, and siblings: Mildred, Mary, Maureen, Joanne, Thomas, John, Patrick, Brian, Carol, and Michael.

Terry’s life was a testament to his dedication to his country and above all, his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his service, loyalty, love of family and unwavering spirit.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 22, 2023 from 9-9:45 AM with a Funeral Mass following at 10 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church. 3001 Belmont Blvd, Nashville TN 37212 https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/nashville-tn
