Stephen-Andrew-Coleman

Stephen Andrew Coleman was born on April 14, 1958, at Fort Belvoir, Virginia to parents Joseph H. Coleman and Marjorie Gore Coleman, both preceded him in death.  Having demonstrated his love for God and love for neighbors throughout his life, Steve went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2023, at age 65.

He is survived by his sons, Stephen Andrew Coleman, Jr. of Cross Plains, Tennessee and Justin Ferrell (wife, Kayla) Coleman of Summerville, South Carolina; and grandson, Carter Ferrell Coleman. He also leaves behind a brother, Joe (wife, Paula) Coleman; a niece, Catherine (husband, Tim) Curtis; and nephew, Kevin (wife, Gelia) Coleman; great-niece, Abigail Coleman; great-nephews, Reed Curtis (wife, Jessica), John Thomas Bryant, Clay Curtis, Isaac Coleman, Wyatt Curtis; and great-great nephew Waylon Curtis and great-great niece Emory Curtis.

Steve was an active member of Saturn Drive Baptist Church who encouraged the church to undertake various ministries to the homeless population in Nashville. Through his leadership, the church partnered with Open Tables of Nashville to provide meals to the homeless. He helped the youth and children assemble blessing bags that were distributed by Open Tables to those in need. He also began a yearly winter clothing drive in the church to provide coats, gloves, and socks to the Nashville Rescue mission.

Steve graduated from St. Andrews High School in Charleston, SC and attended both the University of South Carolina and the College of Charleston. An avid member of the Charleston County Republican Party, Steve worked as campaign manager for SC Rep. Larry Brinker and worked in real estate.

During his high school days, Steve drove a school bus (yes, in South Carolina that was allowed in those days). Steve opted to drive the bus for disabled and special needs children. It is not surprising then that Steve later worked as manager of a group home for people with intellectual disabilities in Charleston. Afterward, he served as a store manager for Heilig-Meyers Furniture.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saturn Drive Baptist Church in Steve’s memory.
