Ronald Anthony “Ronnie” Volpe of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, he was 70 years old.
Ronnie was born to Ralph and Louise Volpe in Sewickley, PA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph C. Volpe, and his niece, Lauren K. O’Saile.
Ronnie is survived by his loving mother, Louise C. Volpe; brothers, Richard G. (Janet) Volpe and Ralph P. (Alexis) Volpe; sister, Mary V. (Darrell) O’Saile; nephews, John Volpe, Ryan (Melissa) O’Saile and Christian (Megan) O’Saile; niece, Alaura O’Saile; and great-nieces, Charlotte and Olivia O’Saile.
He was a graduate of Beaver Falls, High School, Beaver Falls, PA and Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN.
Ronald, best known as Ronnie, some family and friends called him Ronnie ‘V.; Juan Valdez, or Fabulous Pierre, in which he experienced an adventurous, free-spirited life. Throughout his career, Ronnie held a variety of work experiences from working in the copper mines of Montana, Off-shore oil rigs in Louisiana, building log cabins, dabbling in financial planning, commercial real estate and Florida T-shirt ink sales, to name a few.
Ronnie made a lifetime of numerous friends that expanded from high school, college and those he met along the way. Besides hanging with friends and family, he had a passion for camping, hiking, photography, the arts, and the lake life.
He followed all sports, especially his beloved Pirates and Steelers. On a bet, Ronnie hiked the entire Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia (2,000 miles) with only two brief breaks in his quest: Grandma’s Italian cooking in Pennsylvania and a Moody Blues concert in Tennessee.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at St. Philip Catholic Church in Franklin, TN. Visitation with family begins at 11:30 am, Catholic mass will be held at 12:30 pm, concluding with a reception at the church’s fellowship hall. In addition, a Roast and a Toast celebrating the life of Ronnie ’V is currently being planned for a later date. The family requests those in attendance to wear your favorite t-shirt from the Ronnie ‘V Collection.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, or the Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
