Robert Nolan Cantrell, age 84, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025.

Born on March 7, 1941, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, Robert graduated from West High School in 1960 and later attended Middle Tennessee State University. On October 19, 1962, he married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Jenkins, in Nashville. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and community.

Robert dedicated 35 years of service to Nashville Electric Service, where he made lasting friendships and remained actively involved in the NES retiree luncheons after retirement. He was a longtime member of Judson Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and purpose in the Judson Life Group and the Judson Jewels. A man of deep values and tradition, Robert was also a proud Mason with Phoenix Lodge #131.

He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, spending many cherished days fishing at Cordell Hull Lake, Percy Priest, and Center Hill Lake. Hunting was another of his great joys, especially in Maury County and on the old family farm in Jackson County. Whether on the water or in the woods, Robert found peace and fulfillment in nature.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Shirley Cantrell; his son, Lance Cantrell (Shelly); and daughter, Tammy Towns. He was a proud grandfather to Sabrina Towns (Tony), Miranda Bulla, Ryne Towns, Kelly Cantrell, and Trenton Cantrell; and great-grandfather to Cobi Bryan and Aden Dodson. He also leaves behind his brother, James Cantrell (Mireille), and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Green and Eddie Mae Cantrell, and his granddaughter, Victoria Bulla.

Robert will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep-rooted faith, love for his family, and his enduring connection to the land and lakes of Tennessee. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln., Nashville, TN 37204.
