Pok Ye Beshears, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home on June 10, 2025, surrounded by loving family members. She was born on September 26, 1943, in Chunpuk-Do, Korea. Pok Ye was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Busse, and son-in-law, Ryan Busse, of Lawton, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her three brothers—Myong Nam Ko, Myong Chol Ko, and Myong Hwan Ko—as well as one sister and numerous nieces and nephews in South Korea. She was one of eight children and held deep pride in her Korean heritage.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Danny Ray Beshears; her father, Kum Sok Ko; and her mother, Un Ye Ko.
Throughout her life, Pok Ye demonstrated extraordinary resilience and dedication to her family. As a proud military wife, she accompanied her husband to various duty stations around the world, including Korea, Germany, and multiple locations across the United States. Following her husband’s retirement, they made their home in Fort Sill before settling in Nashville, Tennessee. After his passing, Pok Ye returned to Lawton to be close to her daughter.
She worked tirelessly both in civil service and in local dry cleaners, never shying away from hard work. Her perseverance and strong will not only supported her immediate family but also helped provide a brighter future for her loved ones—she purchased land for her father and played a key role in putting her three brothers through college.
A woman of deep faith, Pok Ye was raised Catholic and carried her values of kindness, humility, and service throughout her life. She found joy in simple pleasures—working in the yard, planting trees and flowers, swimming every morning on Fort Sill, and cooking weekly for her daughter and son-in-law, a tradition filled with love and delicious Korean meals. She also adored her two dogs, Presley and Marlyn, and loved playing with them daily—they brought her constant companionship and comfort.
She leaves behind a legacy of strength, sacrifice, and love that will be cherished by all who knew her.
