Robert “Bob” Van Burrows, 92, of Nashville, TN, passed away on April 7, 2024.

He was born in Nacogdoches, Texas. Bob was always very proud of this hometown.

Bob, a veteran of the Navy and Marine Reserves, was a dedicated and hardworking individual. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School, and Stephen F. Austin University. He spent a year teaching middle school in Corpus Christi, then joined his uncle, Pat Murphy in working in sales for Baker Cammack Hosiery Mill and moved to Chicago, IL.

There, he met and married Martha Kerr from Rockford, IL, and a year later they welcomed a daughter, Kathryn Ann. A year later the young family moved to Nashville, TN and soon had a son, Jeffrey Blaine. In 1978, he started his own company, South and Western Hosiery and was very successful. Bob and Martha made the Nashville area their home for over sixty years, spending the last fifty in Williamson County.

A man of faith, Bob was a member of Bellemeade United Methodist Church for over sixty years, finding solace and community in his worship. For many years he helped the Boy Scouts sell Christmas trees at the church. He enjoyed sports over the years including basketball, tennis, and later golf. He belonged to the Jaycees and was a founding member of the Green Hills Rotary Club.

He maintained a second home in Nacogdoches, where he would return a couple times a year to visit and go fishing.

Bob will be remembered for his charming personality and his efforts to bring a smile to everyone he met. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Mcclellan, son Jeffrey Burrows, granddaughter Leah Welty (Matt), and great-grandchildren Jacob, Wyatt, and Hannah Welty. Bob was preceded in death by his father Jack Burrows, mother Mina Singleton, wife Martha, and sister Charlotte Burrows.
