Mortie Q. Dickens Jr., 72 of Antioch, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Mortie was born to the late Mortie Q and Nola Mae (Sanders) Dickens, on September 30, 1950 in East Nashville.
Mortie worked as a Detective for the Metro Nashville Police Department, in youth services for 35 years. Along with serving for over 30 years as a security guard for the Nashville First Church of the Nazarene. He was a proud member of Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed thrifting and getting friends together for lunch-ins. Mortie was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mortie is survived by his daughter Laura (Tavi Gonzalez) Dickens; grandchildren, Abigail (Hector Hernandez) Maxwell, Jonothan Maxwell, Lorelei Dickens, Karleigh Dickens, Lilly Dickens, Ella Maxwell and Baby Cassian Q Gonzalez; and great-grandchildren, Leona Hernandez and Baby Arturo Hernandez.
Along with his parents, Mortie is preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel (Jonothan) Maxwell, and brother John Wayne Dickens.
