Martha Dean Simmons, of Old Hickory, Tennessee passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s (Vascular Dementia) disease, on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. She was 83 years old.
Born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Harold and Inez (Downs) Coe, Martha is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Richard Simmons.
She is survived by her daughters Julie Wilson (Teresa Hollingsworth) and Kelly Powell (Jason); grandchild Michelle Fink; great-grandchildren Edward Lynch, Crixus Weaver, Elizabeth Weaver; and many other beloved extended family and dear friends.
Martha and her husband Richard owned and operated Simmons Electric until retirement. On their off time, you could find them on the golf course or race track, sometimes taking trips to visit these places around the country. With a unique sense of humor and a “tell you like it is” personality, Martha is remembered by her family as being boldly honest and extremely funny. She was hardworking and liked to keep busy. Martha was devoted to her family and she will be dearly missed, though her memory we will cherish forever.
