Margaret “Maggie” Mayberry Matheny was born on November 3, 1964, and departed this Earth peacefully in her home on October 12, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Maggie lived in Thompson’s Station, TN, with her husband, Tim Matheny. Maggie and Tim were married for over 40 years. Maggie was a loving mother to her three boys, Steven Matheny and wife Jenny of Signal Mountain, TN, Tyler Matheny and wife Alyssa of Franklin, TN, and Matthew Matheny of Murfreesboro, TN. Maggie was so happy to finally have daughters when Jenny and Alyssa joined the family. She was such a proud “M” to her 5 grandchildren, Elle, Ezra, Jackson, Noah, and Grant. Her grandchildren brought her the most joy in this world.

Maggie was born in Clarksville, TN, and lived in Nashville, TN, with her mother, Ruth Mayberry, who preceded her in death, and her six surviving brothers and sister. Her siblings are Mark Mayberry and wife Sherelyn of Alvin, TX, Deborah Towles and husband Gale of Charlotte, NC, David Mayberry and wife Deneice of Farmville, VA, Daniel Mayberry and wife Linda of Nashville, TN, John Mayberry and wife Karen of Franklin, TN, and James Mayberry and wife Amy of Columbia, TN. She was also preceded in death by her brother Bill Burns, who resided with his wife Polly near Sparta, TN. Maggie loved her family dearly. The yearly family reunions at Fall Creek Falls State Park were some of her favorite traditions. Maggie and Tim also lived in Alpharetta, GA, during the 1990s. Maggie cherished her Christian family in Georgia, and many of that family became lifelong friends.

Maggie loved the Lord. She made that conviction the focus of her life, the foundation for raising her children, and the joy in the message to her grandkids. She was a member of Brentwood Church of Christ for over 25 years, where she taught countless children’s classes, supported her sisters, and encouraged everyone. The Brentwood Church of Christ was family to Maggie.

Maggie loved to travel, especially to the mountains. One of her great passions was road trips to national parks. Chilly hikes among snow-capped peaks were some of her favorite memories. Maggie enjoyed puzzles, card games, and stories or shows with complicated characters. As we all shared those joys with her, we made memories that we will keep in our hearts forever.

Visitation will occur Saturday, October 18th, at Brentwood Church of Christ from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:30 PM. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/nashville-tn
