Kimberly Marie Mays, 48, of Nashville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2025.
Kimberly was born on November 1, 1976, to Edward and Linda Mays.
Kimberly graduated from McGavock High School in 1995. She worked at Lakewood Baptist Childcare and Nursery for many years. She then graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades throughout her time at Warner, Park Avenue, and Ida B. Wells Elementary Schools. At any time, you could find Kimberly planning lessons for her students to ensure their success. Her calm spirit was evident in her daily interactions with each of her students. She was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2020.
Kimberly is survived by loving parents Edward and Linda Mays, son Hampton Mays, sister Lindy (Jason) McKinney, nieces Libby (Allen) Rose, Jesse Mays, nephews John (Carla) Mays and Jaylin Mckinney. Several much-loved great nieces and nephews. Aunts Carolyn Alexander, Linda (Ken) Knipper, Margie Lester, Uncle Howard (Joan) Eddins as well as many special cousins.
Kimberly’s kindness was apparent to all she met. She accepted Christ as her personal savior and enjoyed her daily devotions and Bible readings. Kimberly’s hobbies included collecting butterflies, perfume bottles, books, and pictures & mementos of Hampton. She was courageous, brave, caring, kind, and independent. She will be missed by many!
Preceded in death by James and Marie Eddins, Joe and Lena Mays, brother Jimmy Mays, as well as, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Kimberly will be held at Hibbett and Hailey Funeral Home on Saturday, May 10th. Visitation will be held from 10-12 with the Celebration of Life proceeding at 12. Pastors Keith Cameron and Bruce Cullom will officiate. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/nashville-tn
