John ‘Doug’ Douglas McCormick, age 88 of Hermitage, entered into rest on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at home under the care of Amedisys Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester & Lillie McCormick; brothers, Thomas Luther McCormick, Robert McCormick, and Jack C. McCormick; sisters, Francis Hopper, Lois Zeller, and Barbara Rigsby.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lois McCormick; children, Scott (Marcia) McCormick and Janet (Scott) Moore; brother, Jim (Karen) McCormick; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Doug’s most joyous moments were spent with family and the love of his life, Lois, of whom he still affectionately referred to as “Baby”. He always had a camera around his neck, with a smile on his face, as he captured every moment with his most precious loved ones.

As a lover of gospel, country, and bluegrass music, he spent many hours playing the guitar and writing songs, passing his love of music on to the entire family. He was always ready with a story or joke to share.

Doug played senior league golf with a few close friends until the age of 85 years. He continued to cherish those friendships until the end of his days. He loved the Lord and continued to participate in the World Bible Study outreach program until recently.

His legacy of love, commitment, determination, music, and zest for life will forever live in our hearts.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 8th at 11:30 am at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Brother Wayne Miller and Brother Scott Moore officiating. The Interment with full military honors will follow the service at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with the grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
