Jerry Wallace Hackney

Jerry Wallace Hackney of Nashville passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the age of 85.

He was born on April 18, 1936 to the late Walter Roscoe and Delia Christian Hackney in Old Hickory.

Following his graduation from Mount Juliet High School, Jerry attended the University of Wyoming on a full scholarship to play football. Jerry enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Jerry loved his church family at West Nashville Heights/Charlotte Heights Church of Christ where he was a member for nearly 50 years. He was very active in the church and served as a deacon for many of those years. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 38 years of dedicated service. Jerry never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth Hackney, Charles Hackney, Thelma Sherrill, Mary Ruth Hackney, Peggy Modrall, Jane Williams, and Bob Hackney.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Linda Burch Hackney; children, Lisa Hackney (Moni Cook) and Kim Hackney Bowker; grandchildren, Leah Bowker, Kara Bowker, Drew Cook, Anna Cook, and Avery Cook; siblings, Leona Hall, Pat Hackney, Ernie Hackney, and Ronnie Hackney; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 PM with Jim Dillingham officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort.
