Denton Howe Mayo III, age 78, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021.

Denton was born October 7, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Denton “Sonny” Mayo, Jr. and Margie Mayo.

Denton “Bubba” Mayo loved his family and his friends, his country, and the Vols. He was a man of faith who cared deeply about others and was easy to be around. He attended Christ The King grade-school and Father Ryan High School where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He was voted “Best All Around” in High School and that superlative was true throughout his life. He graduated from The University Of Tennessee and went to work at the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and Shelby State Community College. He spent 15 years working for Mrs. Winners Chicken and Biscuits and the last 20 years of his working life as a caregiver for Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries. Bubba loved to golf and watch sports on tv and root for the Vols, Titans, Grizzlies, and Yankees. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Denton is survived by his children, Denton Mayo, IV of Cowan, Tennessee, Todd Mayo of Madison, Tennessee, Justin Mayo of Cowan, Tennessee, Griffin (Catherine) Mayo of Birmingham, Alabama and Katie (Terry) Williams of Santa Rosa, Florida; grandchildren, Jackson, Mia, Ty, Maggie, Kells, Myra Kate, and Wylder James; siblings, Regina Johnson, Suzie Cole, and Teresa Catignani; a host of nieces and nephews and one special companion, Matt Henrick.

A Eulogy Service for Denton will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 from 12:45 PM to 1:00 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3001 Belmont Blvd., Nashville, TN 37212, followed by a funeral mass from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
