Jerry-A.-Ethridge

Mr. Jerry A. Ethridge of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, he was 65 years old.

Jerry was born on October 24, 1956, in Clarksville, TN, to Gray and Mary Ethridge.

Jerry grew up in Crieve Hall with his sister, Connie, and brother, Wayne. He went on to graduate from Overton High School in 1974. He met his best friend and soul mate, Denise in 1978, while playing softball with her brothers. Jerry and Denise were married on November 17, 1979 and were happily married for 43 years. They had two sons, Josh (39) and Justin (37). Jerry spent most of his time on the ball fields at Haley and Crieve Hall coaching his boys. He would spend countless hours in the backyard playing catch and throwing batting practice.

He was a constant prankster, notorious for making large signs and toilet papering his friend’s homes as they hit milestone birthdays. Golf was his other favorite pastime. He was a part of a weekly golf group with his youngest son, Justin. Some of his closest friends later in life were made during his weekly golf outings.

Jerry was also known as Grandpa to his two grandchildren, Avery Lee (13) and Grayson Finn (11). Nothing made him happier than watching Avery on the volleyball court or following Grayson around the baseball or football field, or at a wrestling tournament. Even during his last weeks, speaking with his grandchildren on the phone made him beam with pride and joy. They were the light of his life.

Jerry left his mark on this world through the many lives he touched while coaching baseball, at church, at work, or with his golfing buddies. He was always sincere and honest, and he will be missed dearly. Everyone who encountered him will carry a piece of him for the rest of their lives.

He is also survived by his father, Wayne Gray Ethridge; sister, Connie (Rick) Christophel; and brother, Dawson Wayne Ethridge.

Please join the Ethridge family in celebrating the amazing life of Jerry Alan Ethridge. Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 4-6 p.m. with refreshments after at Crievewood United Methodist Church, 451 Hogan Road, Nashville, TN 37220.
