Janet Adams passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
Janet was born on September 5, 1935 in Chalybeate, Mississippi to Bert and Jewell Mathis.
She is survived by her husband, John Adams of Nashville, Tennessee; three children and their spouses, Carol Adams Hunt and Roy Hunt of Nolensville, Tennessee, Steve Adams and Theresa Welker Adams of Nashville, Tennessee, and Greg Adams and Sheryl Brown Adams of Nashville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Laura Hunt Gibson and Matt Gibson, Andrew Hunt and Rena Thio Hunt, Casey Hunt Heard and Brett Heard, Mark Adams and Carolina Banuelos Adams, Emily Adams Merriman and Travis Merriman, Luke Adams, Abigail Adams, and Noah Adams; eight great-grandchildren, Clayton Gibson, Maggie Gibson, Jack Gibson, Anders Hunt, Harper Hunt, Aubrey Merriman, Carter Merriman, and Xoaquin Adams.
Janet graduated from Chalybeate High School in 1952, Lipscomb University in 1971 with a BS in Education, and Middle Tennessee State University with a Master’s Degree in Education in 1977.
Janet served as a librarian at Nashville Christian School and Ezell Harding Christian School until her retirement in 1991. After retirement, John and Janet traveled extensively across the US and Canada in their Airstream camper. Janet taught Sunday school classes over the years at various Churches of Christ and was a member of the Woodson Chapel Church of Christ.
Janet took great joy in the celebration of holidays and birthdays with her family over the years.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road by Mark Adams. Interment Christ Church Memorial Gardens. Honorary Pallbearers: Elders and Deacons of Woodson Chapel Church of Christ. Active Pallbearers: Andrew Hunt, Matt Gibson, Clayton Gibson, Travis Merriman, Tommy Grimes, and Brett Heard. Visitation will be Monday, September 27, 2021 from 3-7 p.m. and Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 615-331-1952.
