Herman D. Ridley, affectionately known as Sonny, was born on July 28, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee, and entered into eternal rest on July 9, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado. He lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and quiet strength, and he will be remembered with deep love by all who knew him.
Sonny was the beloved husband of Jeffner, lovingly known as Jae, and together they shared a bond built on commitment, companionship, and enduring love having been married for 16 years. He was the cherished son of the late Frances E. Williams and the late James Williams. He was also preceded in death by his younger brother, Perry. He leaves behind his brother JD, his sisters Jamerrion Meddling and her husband James, and Guanica TwoTwo, all of whom will treasure his memory and the place he held in their family. His family was a source of great pride and joy to him throughout his life.
He was a devoted father to his daughters Trinitte, Carla, Hope, Corina, and Ayla, and to his sons Ezekial, Joshua, and Gabrial. Sonny loved his children deeply and found great meaning in being their father. He was also a proud grandfather who adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Teddy, his partner in crime, held a special place in his heart as well.
Sonny graduated from East High and later attended UCLA, where he majored in Christian Studies. His education reflected both his determination and his desire to grow in wisdom and understanding. He carried that knowledge into every part of his life, and those who knew him could see that he valued learning, faith, and service.
He served his country as an Army Sergeant, a role that spoke to his discipline, courage, and sense of duty. His service was a meaningful part of his life, and it stood as a testament to his willingness to serve something greater than himself.
