We pause to pay OUR respects to a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Frankie Mai Harris was born on March 30, 1937, in Culleoka, Tennessee to the late Carl and Margaret Harris. On November 22, 2024, God welcomed Frankie into his Heavenly Home. Frankie was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred and Charles Edward, sister, Martha, son/nephew, Daryl, nephews, Kevin Bean and Anthony Lewis.
Frankie accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and became a member of Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church, and for approximately the last 20 years Saint James Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Dr. George T. Brooks, Sr. until her health failed and the Lord called her home. She was a member of the Sunday Church School, Juanita Fowler Women’s Missionary Auxiliary, and the Sick Visitation Team.
Frankie was the oldest girl in a family of five boys and five girls. She attended Metro Nashville Public Schools and graduated from Pearl High School class of 1954. She studied accounting at Draughons Business College and upon graduation, she was awarded for having the highest grade-point average among all her classmates. Upon graduation, she was employed at Genesco for eighteen years. Frankie resigned from Genesco and joined the Nashville Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta where she retired in 2000 after 29 years of service as an Accounting Analyst.
Frankie was known throughout the Nashville Branch and Sixth District as an expert in many of the Federal Reserve Systems. As a result, she received the President’s Award for Excellence from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta where she was honored at a Banquet and Reception in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a problem solver in her professional and personal life.
Frankie loved to watch tennis and golf. She was also an avid reader of the Holy Bible. She enjoyed gardening and the Christmas Holiday. She especially loved decorating the Christmas tree. The thing she loved the most was spending time with her sisters (the Golden Girls) and traveling.
Frankie is survived by three devoted sisters, Doris, Belinda (Carl) Bean, and Anita Hunt, devoted brothers, Ronald and Thomas (Valarie) Harris. Although all the sisters were devoted to each other, Frankie and Doris remained together, in one household to raise the children as one single unit of sisters and brothers who survived her, Jarrett Harris (son), nephew/son, Carl (Maria) Harris, Sewell, New Jersey, Kim (Kelley) Andrews. She was GranAnnie to Brian and Nana to Tynita (Adam) Lee. Frankie is highly cherished and survived by Sister-in-law, Georgia Harris, nieces and nephews: Imani and Maya Harris of Sewell, New Jersey, Alfreda (Melvin) Powell, Pam George, Karla Woodard, Keith (LaQuita) Bean, Belinda, Jason, Taji, Thomas Jr, and Deandra Harris. Numerous other family members and friends.
