She was born and raised in the Funns Branch Community in Jackson County, TN.

Elvia touched so many lives with her strength, spirit, and joy for life. She loved to travel and continued flying all over the world even after hitting the remarkable milestone of celebrating 100 years on this planet.

Elvia was proud of her career. She started grading cream on the farm to sell at the family store and a wholesale distributor encouraged her to move to Nashville. Once in Nashville, she worked at DuPont during WWII, making materials for the war effort and often telling stories about the people she worked with. She was known for being “ The Avon Lady’ to so many people for 25 years.

During her 100 years, Granny survived the 1918 Spanish Flu as a baby and then brought hope and kindness to 2020 with her online presence. She made her acting debut in a Hallmark Christmas movie and became a social media favorite with her show “ Coloring With Granny.” Filmed in Hawaii, Granny reminded us all to “just keep coloring.”
She was a long-time member of City Road United Methodist Church. God was the cornerstone of her life.
