Earl Caldwell (Buddy) Shacklett Jr – Age 85 departed this world February 28, 2025, surrounded by his most prized possession, his family.
Mr. Shacklett, a native Nashvillian worked as a contractor alongside his parents (Earl & Helen Shacklett) who preceded him in death, at Shacklett General Contractors. With the heart of a servant, he enjoyed anything that allowed him to do for others. He served in the TN Legislature from 1970-1972 elected on a slogan of “Tell it like it is” and later appointed to fill a vacancy in the state Senate from February 1973-1974. He was a member of the Central High School Alumni Association. A Freemason with John B. Garrett Lodge and member of Al Menah Shrine Temple. A lifelong Stockcar & NASCAR fan, he could be found on Saturday nights at racetracks around the Southeast surrounded by friends that became family. It’s been rumored he might’ve even bought a set of tires or two, a practice he preferred to go unnoticed. A simple man who never sought attention for his deeds but one that would jump at the chance to brag about those of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his family. He has left his mark on us all and we are forever changed by knowing and losing him.
He is survived by and devoted to his wife of 61 years Patricia Waddell Shacklett. Special friend and constant companion: Daisy. Children: Stacey (Randy) Clayton, Casey (Lisa) Shacklett, Helen Marie Johnson. Grandchildren: Jacob Clayton, Carson Shacklett, Grant Shacklett, Haylie Shacklett, Andrew Johnson, Grace Ann Johnson. Great-grandchildren: Chandler Clayton, Amelia Clayton. Brothers: Ronnie (Brenda) Shacklett, Steve Shacklett, David (Julie) Shacklett. He is preceded in death by son-in-law David Johnson.
Pallbearers: Jacob Clayton, Carson Shacklett, Andrew Johnson, Grant Shacklett, Randy Clayton, Casey Shacklett. Honorary pallbearers: Zachary Waddell, Caldwell Shacklett, DW Shacklett, Daniel Shacklett.
