It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Elizabeth Lambert, PhD., who passed away on September 23, 2024, at 81 years of age.
Although born in Nebraska, Dorothy was proud to consider herself a native Tennessean. She earned a PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and soon after found her professional niche conducting psychological assessments and therapy with such diverse clients as prisoners and those seeking disability benefits.
Known to many as Dee, Dorothy was a spunky, spirited woman who delighted in making plays on words, reading romance novels, taking in stray cats, performing her Buddhist prayers and chants, and giving generously to others, be it in lending them a room in her home or in her heart. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Warren Lambert, PhD. Dorothy is survived by sisters, Kathleen Jernigan (Stuart Kuperstock) of Donelson, Tennessee and Barbara Jernigan of Coos Harbor, Oregon, her nieces Angela McGhee and Terri Meyer, and her beloved friend Elisabeth Dykens, PhD.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s honor can be sent to either the Vanderbilt University Kennedy Center or the Nashville Cat Rescue.
We deeply appreciate the dedicated staff at Brookdale-Belle Meade for their loving care of Dorothy. A celebration of Dee’s life will be held at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home in Nashville on Monday, September 30th, visitation begins at 10:30 am and the service at 11:00 am. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/nashville-tn
