Dorothy “Dot” Elaine (Lester) Jackson, age 95, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022.

Dot was born to Paul Munde and Leona (Mason) Lester in San Antonio, Texas. Dot was raised in Rome, Georgia with her two siblings: Zettie, Georgie.

Dot moved to the Nashville area when she was in high school. She started working at Broadway National Bank in the bookkeeping department right after graduation. She was employed by this bank, now known as Bank of America, for 37 years and retired as a vice-president having been a loan officer. Many of the bank customers were country music greats, including Marty Robbins and Roy Acuff. She enjoyed country music and had a dog, Oscar, that could howl to country music.

She married Raymond Jackson on June 4th, 1948 where they resided in Franklin. In 1956, they moved to Crieve Hall. In 1959, their son David was born. Her life changed during these years as she participated in his activities of scouts and baseball. She was a devoted mother, always on the sidelines when David was playing, cheering him on. She has been a member of Crieve Hall Church of Christ for more than 50 years. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and served others well.

Dot enjoyed bowling, tennis, crafts, needlework, and painting. Her biggest pastimes, however, were spending time with her family and friends and spoiling her grandchildren. She was also a volunteer at Clover Bottom Developmental Center for 25 years. She helped her sister make cupcakes for her nephew who has cerebral palsy and his cottage mates every week for 20 years. Among her virtues are being tender-hearted, generous, and quick to volunteer.

She is survived by her sister, Georgie Bridgeman; son, David Jackson; grandchildren, Blake Jackson and Brooke Sherrell (JT); great-grandchildren, Benton, Landree, and Sutton Sherrell.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Paul and Leona Lester; husband, Raymond; and sister, Zettie Herrod.
