Don Peery

Donald “Don” Peery, 75, passed away on January 14, 2022, in Nashville, TN.

He was the son of the late William “Bill” Peery and the late Macy Peery, owners of the Avalon Restaurant in Paris, TN for many years.

Don was a 1965 graduate of E. W. Grove High School and attended the University of Tennessee, Martin, TN, and Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War.

He owned and operated a barbershop in downtown Nashville, a post office sub-station, and later work at Lowe’s. He was licensed as a contractor, a surveyor, and a real estate agent. He enjoyed playing chess, pool, hunting, fishing, and grilling. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Tamara, while gardening and traveling. Don attended Trevecca Community Church of the Nazarene and Donelson Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, TN.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Rebecca “Becky” Jackson of Dickson, TN.

He is survived by his wife Tamara of Nashville, two sons, Dan (Brandi) Peery of Murfreesboro, TN, and Michael Peery of Dickson, TN, and three grandchildren: Libby Petrie, Nastia Travnikova, and Alex Aleksey Peery.

Don is also survived by siblings: Rosemary Jones of San Diego, CA; Reba (Stan) Hanson McCluskey of Milton, FL; Ronda (Barry) Hart of Paris, TN; Richard (Pam) Peery of Mt. Juliet, TN; Phillip Peery of Puryear, TN; Neil Peery of Antioch, TN; and brother-in-law Richard Jackson of Silver Springs, FL.

Rev. Barry Hart will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be family members Dan Peery, Michael Peery, Alex Peery, Richard Peery, Phillip Peery, Neil Peery, Richard Jackson, and James Jackson.

Visitation will be at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Road in Nashville, on Tuesday, January 25th, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Paris First Church of the Nazarene, 4220 Highway 218 Bypass, Paris, TN, 38242, for Mission Outreach.
