Dewey Victor (Vic) Simpson died peacefully at Select Specialty Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee on November 21, 2022.

Vic was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany to Dewey Paton and Gertraud Kapp Simpson on September 8, 1947.

Throughout his life and career he lived in many states, but loved Tennessee and specifically Nashville.

Vic graduated from Alcoa High School and went on to obtain both BS and Master’s degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He worked as an educator and later for the federal government within the USDA as a Soil Conservationist in multiple leadership roles around the United States.

Vic deeply loved his three children, five grandchildren, parents, siblings and all his dogs, both past and present. He was an avid gardener and genealogist and was involved within his community.

Vic was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Harriett Demetros Simpson and his parents, Dewey and Gertraud Simpson.

He is survived by his three children Rachel (Todd) Halford, Nicholas (Jenny) Simpson, Valerie (Adam) Landa, his five grandchildren Camden and Colton Simpson, Abigail and Zachary Landa, and Hunter Halford, and his two siblings Barbara (Ned) Petrucci and Steven (Mary Jo) Simpson, many nieces and nephews, and Jane Cook Simpson, the mother of Rachel and Nicholas.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Ascension St. Thomas and Select Specialty Hospital for their many kindnesses during Vic’s long stay in their facilities.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Nashville Humane Society, Westie Rescue of Tennessee, Inc., or the American Lung Association.

Arrangements are being made by Marshall-Donnelly Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Avenue, Nashville.

Gravesides services for family and friends on Wednesday, November 23rd 10:00 am at Congregation Micah Cemetery 2001 Old Hickory Blvd, Brentwood, Tennessee 37027.
