Concettina-Marie-MacDonald

Concettina Marie MacDonald, age 97, of Wakefield, MA and Nashville, TN left this earth peacefully on November 5, 2022 at home, with her son Ian by her side.

Concettina “Connie” was born on April 19, 1925 to Carmelo and Frances Rizza of Wakefield.

She began studying piano at the age of 6. After Connie graduated from Wakefield High School in 1943, where she played basketball and studied music, she attended Burdett College and received the Executive Secretarial Degree in 1945.

In 1950, Connie married Navy Chief and Pearl Harbor Survivor Richard MacDonald, her husband of 56 years. They moved to Nashville in 1957 after Richard retired from the Navy and began his career with the Federal Reserve Bank.

Connie taught piano privately from her home for 20 years. She was the Pianist at the First Unitarian Universalist Church for 20 years where she and Richard were Charter Members, and managed The Encore Shop, a consignment store of “nearly new clothing” which funded the Steinway Grand Piano presently used at the church.

Connie worked at the Senior Citizens Center on West End for over 20 years as Pianist for THE CHORALEERS, a local traveling chorale group which performed at Assisted Living Centers all over Nashville, and as administrative assistant in the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) office.

In addition to music, Connie was a great cook, especially Italian food. The kitchen and its “smells” was the center of the family home. She made her own meatballs, sausages and pasta from scratch. Homemade sauce simmered on the stove for hours. There could never be too much garlic or olive oil in anything. She was an avid reader, and a devoted and loving wife and mother. She and Richard traveled the world in their retirement years.

Concettina was predeceased by her parents, Carmelo and Frances; and her husband, Richard.

She is survived by her son, Ian of Nashville.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 10-11 a.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, followed by a Service of Song and Remembrance at 11:00 a.m. A brief committal will be held at Middle Tennessee-State Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Richard. https://www.woodbinefuneralhome.com
