With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we share the passing of our beloved Betty Jo Seegraves Peters, who died at the age of 83 after a long illness. Surrounded by love, as she had always surrounded others, she left this world with grace, just as she lived.

Born in 1942, Betty carried with her a quiet strength, a generous heart, and a sharp wit that made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a remarkable gift for listening — truly listening — and people were drawn to her because she made them feel understood, valued, and safe. Her kindness was not just a trait but a way of life, evident in the countless small and meaningful ways she cared for others.

She was a devoted wife, a loving and deeply supportive mother, and the kind of friend everyone hopes to have — loyal, sincere, and present. Her sense of humor remained one of her greatest charms: dry, quick, and often sarcastic. She could make you laugh even when you didn’t think it was possible, often offering wisdom and warmth in the same breath.

Among her greatest joys in life was her role as a grandmother. She absolutely adored her granddaughter, who brought her endless pride, laughter, and light. The bond they shared was deep and beautiful, filled with stories, snuggles, and sweet traditions that will live on in memory and spirit.

Betty also had an enormous soft spot for animals and lavished love on her pets over the years. Each one — whether a loyal dog curled at her feet, or a curious and playful cat, knew her as a true friend. Her gentle touch and kind voice were a source of comfort not just to people, but to every creature she welcomed into her life.

Though she faced significant challenges in her later years, Betty met them with quiet courage and unwavering dignity. Her resilience was matched only by her tenderness, and even in illness, her love for those around her never dimmed.

She is survived by her daughters, son-in-law, and granddaughter. She is also survived by her brother, sisters-in-law, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as a wide circle of friends who were fortunate enough to walk beside her in this life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her — in every act of kindness, every shared laugh, every moment of honest connection.

Her life will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16th, at Hermitage Funeral & Memorial Gardens. Please feel free to visit at any time from 3:00-6:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made in her honor to Pet Community Center of Nashville, reflecting her compassion and care for others — both human and animal.

She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. Her absence is immeasurable, but so is the love she left behind.
