Mrs. Betty Jean Barrett passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, she was 85 years old.

She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert B. Barrett, siblings, Harold Sutton, Johnny Sutton, Mary Sue Smith, and Beverly Graves.

She is survived by her children, Joseph (Dorothy) Barrett, Michael (Barbara) Barrett, and Debra (Tony) Malkiewicz, grandchildren, Kevin (Leslie) Malkiewicz, Joseph Malkiewicz, Rachael (Trey) McPhail, Frank Barrett, Benjamin (Kassidy) Barrett, Jacob Barrett, Casey (Tony) Laek, great-grandson Leo Barrett, siblings, Herbert (Connie) Sutton, Lucy Stephens, Janie (Jimmy) Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a graduate of North High school in Nashville and voted Mrs. North High during her senior year. After graduation, she began her career at Harvey’s department store in downtown Nashville and recently retired as CEO of Herb B, LLC.

She served as a volunteer in the lunchroom at St. Joseph Catholic School where she was known as the “French Fry Lady”. She enjoyed gambling, especially playing slots. She would often take her siblings on gambling trips to different casinos across the country. She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s athletic events. She was an avid Tennessee and Vanderbilt fan. She cheered for both teams to keep the peace in the family during these events.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 11-12:30 PM at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be held on Monday at 12:30 PM at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home with a funeral mass to follow at 1:30 at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.
