Betty F Causey Obit

With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the remarkable journey of Betty Faye Causey, who passed away peacefully at home on June 21, 2025 at the age of 85.

Born on December 2, 1939 in Nashville, TN, Betty was a vibrant force of nature, athletic, hardworking, loving and devoted to her entire family. A proud graduate of Cumberland High School, Betty “Mighty Mite,” made a name for herself on the basketball court and earned All-City Honors both in her junior and senior years.

Known for her sharp shooting and unmatched ball handling skills, Betty was a star on and off the court. She displayed the determination, poise and drive that would ultimately define her life. Later, Betty poured that same passion into the restaurant and catering business.

She worked for many years as a Manager at Maude’s Courtyard, and then started her own café and catering company, where her leadership skills, relentless work ethic and her southern hospitality brought her great success. Betty’s warm personality and attention to detail made every meal not just delicious but memorable.

Above all, Betty was a loving and devoted mother. Her sons, Rick and Kirk were truly the lights of her life. She raised them with unconditional love, steadfast encouragement and unwavering support. She never missed an opportunity to lift them up and cheer for them.

Betty is survived by her children, Rick (Patty) and Kirk, siblings Peggy Fielder (Bob), Dr. Roger Richards (Linda). Betty was preceded in death by former husband Sam, her longtime partner Ed Collins, parents Gus and Georgia Richards, siblings Dorothy J. Ellis (Jody), Gus Richards Jr. (Rebecca), Bobby Richards Sr. (Judy), and sister-in-law Linda Richards (Roger).

Betty’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, heart and grace. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered not only by her sons, but by her extended family and her many dear friends.

A special thank you to Kelly Dale Richards Ward, Patty Kennedy, Jay Ellis and Joni Ellis Cheshire. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Heart’n Soul Hospice.
