January 30, 2022 – Excessive speed is the preliminary contributing factor in today’s 12:30 a.m. single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Donelson Pike that killed the teenage driver and sole occupant.

La’Monte Shute Jr., 17, of Nashville, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe outbound on Murfreesboro Pike when the SUV crossed over several inbound lanes, left the roadway, struck a drainage culvert and began rolling. Shute was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. He died at the scene.
