Nashville Diaper Connection, Tennessee’s largest diaper bank, announced on Friday the organization distributed its 10 millionth diaper to support local families in need.

The milestone comes as the nonprofit organization celebrates its 10-year anniversary, growing from distributing 19,000 diapers in 2013 to more than 2.2 million in 2022.

“We are beyond grateful to our donors, partners and volunteers for helping us get diapers to thousands of families in need each month,” said Doug Adair, President and Founder of the Nashville Diaper Connection. “Diaper need is a public health issue that has a profound impact on local families and communities. By providing this support, we take a little of the burden off these families, contributing to happier, healthier outcomes.”

According to a recent survey conducted by the National Diaper Bank Network, 1 in 2 Tennessee familiesexperiences diaper need, meaning they don’t have enough diapers to keep their baby clean, dry and healthy. Of affected families, 81% are employed full-time and still unable to afford an adequate supply of diapers. Most childcare facilities require a day’s worth of diapers when a child is dropped off, resulting in many parents and caregivers missing work or school, thus creating a vicious cycle of hardship.

Nashville Diaper Connection has been working to end diaper need in Middle Tennessee. Funded by grants and donations, the organization connects diapers with families in need through a comprehensive network of partner organizations and programs. Nashville Diaper Connection currently serves families in 22 Middle Tennessee counties, providing 50 diapers for more than 4,500 babies each month.

“Every baby deserves a healthy start and diapers are critical to that,” said Brandi Jack, Operations Director for the Nashville Diaper Connection. “Diaper need is a bigger issue than many people realize and it will take all of us working together to address it. We can’t thank the community enough for providing the dollars, doers and diapers we needed to reach these milestones – we’re excited to continue building momentum so that, together, we can help even more families.”

Nashville Diaper Connection is partnering with the National Diaper Bank Network for National Diaper Need Awareness Week Sept. 18 – Sept. 24. Nashville Diaper Connection is urging individuals, organizations, elected officials and others to take action to help end diaper need in their local community.
