(May 25, 2022) The man fatally shot Saturday night by a security guard in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 227 Shelby Avenue is identified as Dominique Williams, 25, of Nashville.
Homicide Unit detectives interviewed a female security guard who reported that Williams had been asked to leave the 7-Eleven prior to the shooting but that he continued into the store and took a beer without paying for it. The guard attempted to knock the beer from his hands and pepper spray him but was unsuccessful.
Williams returned to the property approximately 20 minutes later and the guard again told him to leave. He reportedly began walking toward her saying that he was going to take her gun from her and use it. As he continued coming toward her, she pulled her weapon and fired one shot, striking Williams in the chest.
The investigative findings will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office. No charges have been placed at present.
